NTRODUCTION - Week 1Introduction to medicinal herbs including the basic philosophy and strictness in adhering to codes of secrecy and protocol, with discussion, identification, and utilization of various methods and techniques of extraction in preparing native and hanai herbs for curing the diseases of mankind. (Hanai: exotic herbs adopted into the culture).

Meet in classroom for orientation: Display, name, identify native herbs and their habitat. Introduction to lab equipment and participate in the initiatory phase of herbal juice extraction utilizing several medicinal herbs known for their inhibitory power against certain diseases of the human body. PREPARING HERBS - Week 2
Methods and techniques of extraction in preparing native and hanai herbs for curing diseases will include drying, juicing, boiling, steeping, tincturing, poulticing and storing. (Reading: Abbott 1992: 103).
MINERALS IN HAWAIIAN MEDICINE - Week 3
Using materials as part of the healing therapy was an ancient practice still popular among a few families today. Included in this discussion will be the use of several types of mud and clay, salt, and various forms of water. (Reading: Gutmanis 1977: 133; Kekauaimokuohai, personal information, 1900-1960).

PHASES OF THE MOON IN PLANTING - Week 1
Hawaiians utilized phases of the moon in planting and preparing herbs for medicinal purposes. An explanation of this technique which has been handed down through the generations and is still used today. (Reading: Mitchell 1993:112).
LAB - MOON PHASES AND TRADITIONAL HERBS TO GENDER OFFSPRING

FASTING - Week 2
Utilizing the fast to cleanse, purify, strengthen, and receive instructions (through revelation). Abstaining from food for several days to strengthen the mind, spirit, and body of native practitioners, giving them knowledge through dreams, visions, and insight, and thus, power. Conclude with prayer and follow up with a written report explaining the physical, mental, and spiritual reactions experienced during a 24 hour, and a breakfast fast, Foods to ingest after a fast will be demonstrated and prepared.

Combining herbs, fruit, and other compounds to cleanse the body.

RESTORATION: THE PROCESS – Week 1
If the body is to be restored to perfect health, changes, in diet, habits, and lifestyle need to be made. (Reading: Mitchell 1992: 232, Kekauaimokuohai personal information, 1900-1960).

CLEANSING: THE METHOD – Week 2

HERBS: THE MEANS – Week 3

PERFECT HEALTH: THE GOAL – Week 4

Advanced Studies In Hawaiian Medicinal Herbs
WATER THERAPY – Week 5
As part of the larger program, the use of hot and cold water alternatively upon a specific area of the body to effect a healing will be explained and demonstrated in conjunction with the Cold Sheet Treatment. (Reading: Kekauaimokuohai personal information, 1900-1960).

Students will observe “Cold Sheet Treatment” demonstration and participate in a simulated exercise, working in pairs with their own sheets.
CANCER THERAPY – Week 6
Covering all known cancers and their possible elimination utilizing plant warrior of the highest order, diet, and cleansing programs, and immune-building herbs. (Reading: Kekauaimokuohai personal information, 1900-1960).

Students will prepare herbs that cleanse, rebuild and restore the blood, the immune system, and destroy cancer cells in the body.
